My First "Tunnel" Card

I found a great blog with free digi images and great tutorials.  I got the directions for the card here and the digi images here and here.

So here is my card.

Isn't this a fun card?  I used leftover CS pieces, Nestabilities, CB, digi images (colored by Curt), computer generated sentiment, black fine point marker and ATG.  This was a really easy card but I think it looks pretty impressive.  :D

The Scrapoholic's Monday Make the Cut Challenge

This weeks MTC challenge for The Scrapoholic was bears.  You can enter her challenge here.  They are all really cute and could be used for so many different layouts or cards.
I have had a busy week making teenage birthday cards (which I seriously struggle with) so once those were done it was fun to relax and play with teddy bears.  Here is my card.

I used 2 shades of blue paper and a zig zag stitch around the edge and then added some buttons.

I used MTC file by The Scrapoholic
Paper scraps
misc. buttons
rub ons
embroidery floss
ATG
Glue pen

Please join in the challenge and remember we will have another challenge on April 4th.  I look forward to your comments and your creations :D

Super Creamy Yummy Lasagne

Oh my goodness!  Curt made me lasagna and it was awesome.  I mean seriously I could hardly wait to enjoy the leftovers.   I have never had such a rich creamy and inexpensive lasagna.  I am going to assume that you all have a basic recipe you enjoy so I am just explaining the changes he made.

For a batch of lasagna that fits in a 9 x 13 pan what he did was replace the ricotta with one 8 oz package of cream cheese.  He left it out for a bit to soften and then just pinched off little bits and layered them as you would the ricotta layer.  So here is how the layers went.

Sauce
Uncooked noodles
Cream cheese pinches
Spinach and meat
Uncooked noodles

Repeat until the pan is full ending with sauce.  Cover and bake until noodles are done and then top with mozzarella and return to the oven until the cheese is melted.

Awesome with cheesy garlic bread and a green salad or just by itself!  Enjoy!!!   :D

Behind Again, Upcoming Blog Hop and Upcoming Recipes!

Wow!  What happened?  I was really doing well at keeping up with my blog, my menus, my recipes, my creations and life... and then.... well, life happened and got in the way.  I am going to try to do better.

I am going to be hosting my first ever blog hop at the end of April and I am still looking for some more participants.  I am really excited about this and I hope you will all follow the hop.  If you are interested in participating please leave a comment and I will get in touch with you.

I also have a fantastic recipe to share with all of you.  Curt made me lasagna the other night and I have to say it was way better than mine so I plan to share his secrets with you.  Be warned, it is not low cal but it is awesome!   Oh and St. Patrick's Day recipes and pictures too.  I love St. Patty's Day!

Hopefully sometime soon I will have some MTC cut files to share with you but I am still trying to figure out the best way to share them.  I hope everyone has a wonderful and productive week! :D

United States Air Force Thunderbirds Layout

I love, love, love the Thunderbirds!  Here is my layout of my very favorite pictures of the Thunderbirds.

These planes and these pilots will make your heart race.

These pictures are taken from LVMS.  I love NASCAR but I have to admit watching the Thunderbirds is one of my favorite parts of being at the racetrack.  Watching them practice and fly for the 3 days at the track is a very special experience.

This might be my very favorite picture I have ever taken!

The Thunderbirds saying "Once a Thunderbird, Always a Thunderbird"

Ok enough rambling... I used Bazzill for the background paper, the red and the white are shimmery, metallic papers.  I designed all the lettering and the border in MTC.  The stars are just leftover from the border cut.  The pages have handstitching and the quote is computer printed in the same font as the title.

The Scrapoholic's Monday Make the Cut Challenge

This weeks MTC challenge for The Scrapoholic was borders.  You can enter her challenge here.  Let me tell you Jill gave us some great borders to work with and the hardest part was picking which border to use as they all look fabulous!

So without rambling and making you wait any longer here is what I came up with.

My Favorite Things Aren't Things

A 2 page layout that will highlight pictures of my very favorite people.  I plan on printing the pictures in black and white and then hand tinting them with photo markers to bring out some of the colors.

I just love this paper!  I have been hoarding it forever and decided this would be a great use for it.  Here are some close ups of the details.

I love how the MTC borders from Jill have different sizes.  It made it soo easy to tie everything together.

I really like the distressed look of the paper.  I used a sanding block on the photo mats, borders and the flower.

I needed some shimmer so I added Stickles to the main paper.

Here is what I used to create these pages

MTC cut files from The Scrapoholic
~Large border cut at 11.31 x 1.01
~Small border cut at 11.28 x 0.54 (cut down to fit the photo mats)
MTC lettering
~Brush455BT at 1"
K & Co. Roam double sided paper pack
Misc. cream and turqoise card stock
Sanding block
Dark brown Cat's Eye Chalk
Nestabilities rectangles
Misc. buttons
Cloud 9 stamp Simple Thoughts ~ Memories
CM 1 1/4" circle punch
Scissors
ATG
Glue pen
Stazon Timber Brown ink pad
Embroidery thread
Heat embossed brad
Stickles

I love followers and I love comments!  Thanks for spending some time here with me.  Make sure you take grab a second cup of coffee and head over to see what the other MTC designers came up with.  Have a wonderful day and I look forward to seeing your take on Jill's challenge.  Remember we will have another MTC challenge on March 21, 2011.

Dahlia fold flowers

This is what happens when your crafting plans get changed... I planned on spending the weekend making cards and LO's.  The weather had other plans for me.  We got 2 feet of snow and lost power for close to 48 hours and then the power was off and on.  I used my CM 1" punch and misc papers and buttons.  Let me know what you think.  :D

Some of my first flowers were a bit wonky.

This one makes me think of Christmas.
This one makes me think of mint and chip ice cream.

I am pretty sure that all of the papers were K & Co.
I used the directions found here
